A nice big post

 Happy 4th Birthday, Anna Scout!! We celebrated with family and friends by throwing a dress-up party in Cherokee Park.  At first she wanted to go as a pirate, but then she decided on her fairy costume.  It was blazing saddles outside and humid, kind of like being in a sauna, so we all ended up getting into the creek to cool off at least our feet.  It's hard to believe she is 4, partly because 4 years really isn't that long of a time and I feel like I've known her forever, and partly because she has developed so much in these 4 years, it's crazy to think she is still so young.

She wanted mini muffins for her dessert from our favorite muffin store.

She needed some Daddy time mid-party.

 

Her friend is holding a dead fish in her hand and they are looking for more.

And then Mimi and Donn came the second week in August to hang with the kiddos while I got cracking on this upcoming school year.  I had lots of prep work to do, so I am just ridiculously thankful for Mimi's presence and how much fun Jack and Anna had with her.  And Donn fixed our bedroom light fixture (no more ceiling light hanging from wires, classy, i know) and our front porch light.

Jack was thrilled to hold Deacon's leash as he walked around.

 And then, finally, here are some shots of Jack this past month that are either super-sweet or super-funny (or both).

He's just playing in the den stacking shapes on his train.

This one cracks me up.  Jack is all about wearing crowns and other head gear around the house for a long time.

This was at Auntie Taylor's soccer game and Jack thought he was big stuff walking around the bleachers.

Oops, didn't rotate this back in iphotos.  And here is another example of  Jack wearing something on his head and enjoying it thoroughly.  He wore his pirate eye patch on top of his head for at least 2 hours today.  He said, "Hat on!"
